We recently went to Jim Walter for a home. The 48 hours approval turned out to be 10 days. once we got our paperwork,(good faith estimate!!!) and all we signed it, sent it back along with our septic estimate and bill of sale for our land. we were told we would be sent our final papers for closing. All colors,cabinets , exterior , shingles and everything had been chosen. We went by last week to ask a question about the house and was told, oh! the rules have changed with our financing the last 2 weeks and you can no longer be financed.I was told this happened to other folks too but if your out there let us hear from you. i've just contracted with jim walters and all is going well, they are using "First Mortgage" now....

My husband was approved for a home through them three months ago. They shut down the branch we had went through and we didn't know until weeks later. Last week, they told us that all of it was put on hold for him until May because of their new financing. This morning they called and said that they won't honor the contract because we are too far away and they have too much they have to do on the houses now because all of them have to be 100% completed. The worst part is, we have never received official word from Him Walter Homes that the one branch was closed and that the contract wouldn't be honored. The last thing we ever received was the approval letter. I really hope things work out for you. They have all of our paperwork for a deed to be made and no one knows where it is, and it's just a mess.
