I was bullied into foreclosure by collector

This guy named chris would harrass me about my payments.Even when the house wasn't in forclosure he would nail for sale signs on the house...I never felt comfortabe in the house at all ....I was harrassed so much that I just gave up and let the house go, I was tired of dealing with it. After I moved out my sister and brother n law moved into the house and they started getting harrassed by the same guy. If anyone knows about a lawsuit against the low down dirty crooks please let me know. I was young and dumb and signed a lof of papers without knowing what they were and they took full advantage of it! please call with any info about suing these folks @markus #985351****

" let it go " = failed to pay

And you blame this on someone else.

Of course.

Pay your bills on time, stop blaming others for your errors.

Grow up.

Guest

Maybe if you made your payments on time you wouldnโ€™t have to worry about people coming to your house or calling you. Why would you sign papers without knowing what they were for?

Obviously your signing a contract and buying a house. If you donโ€™t know what your doing maybe you should have had a lawyer or not bought a house.

Come on now. Common sense

Civil suit

Can we please file a civil suit against JWH and maybe we can some of your money back. I bought my house in 2002 and since that time my tub feel as if it is about to fall in and my air condition stop working because the guy said it was outdated and should have never been installed. I have mold growing in my master bedroom and my kitchen cabinets are falling apart. In 2003 my husband was in a accident and we had some financial hardship but I contact JWH and asked about arrears and they did not work for with me and after my husband passed I still could not get them to work with me so they foreclosed my home in 2009 but later they went out of business in 2009. Something just don't add up.

House is falling apart

My house is almost 7 years old. My floors are weak and creaky, part of kitchen floor had to be replaced, problems with plumbing, portions of floor pulling away from foundation, insulation has fallen out, problems with electrical breaker and kitchen outlets. I've had to replace garbage disposal, dish washer, washer and dryer. I'm a widow on a fixed income, paying an almost $700.00 note. Call me crazy, but shouldn't a brand new house last longer than 7 years? Since Jim Walter Homes no longer exist who do I go to for help? Is there a name and number for a point of contact.

My parents purchased and built a JWH in 1982 in Freer TX. My parents have since retired and sold the home.

It is still standing and as a child who grew up in the home, I cant ever recall having problems with the home. It was warm and cozy during the winter and nice and cool during the summer.

The house is still standing today and looks nice. Thank you JWHs for such a wonderful child hood experience.

Jim Walter Homes

We bought our JWH in August 2003 and moved in. Called about floors due tothe A/C unit pipes were attached to the floor boards and the boards are rotten and weak, i was told to take pics nd send them in. Called about cracks in the walls no call back. They do not hold up on any of the warranty things they say. Never returnes calls and avoids contact. I even called the saleman we bought it with and he was a dumba$$ he acted like he knew nothing about it, I really need an attorney so that I can file a lawsuit but what can you do when they are out of business??? Any suggestions/?????

If your home was inspected and it passed and any of the defects are in violation of local codes then the local inspection department can be held liable.

JWH

Why are we paying for these Jim Walter Homes and they are no longer in business? These houses are falling apart and the structure in rotten and broken. If someone files bankruptcy how can they still collect money. If we file bankruptcy, we have to give up what we have, do this not go for them as well. They will not fix nothing, nor will insurance. We have paid insurance every since 2003 and they will not fix nothing. How are they allowed to build home and not do any warranty work on the homes. They are getting free money while in bankruptcy.

Jim Walter + Walter Mortgage Company = Crooks

My husband and I gave our land to Jim Walter Homes so that we could provide a safe home for our four children. When we decided to have a new home built we were living in a twenty year old mobile home. Our mobile home's floor was rotten and I fell through it when I was nine months pregnant with our youngest daughter. We thought at the time that Jim Walter Homes were built well, because many older people said they were good. If I would have known now what kind of *** we were going to go through I would have NEVER gave my land or money to them. Come to find out they put the cheapest material (a/c, sinks, cabinets, hot water heater, carpet etc.) in it. Our home has had numerous a/c problems since it was built. We have replaced the compressor with our own money. One year ago we replaced the hot water heater. I might add that our home was built in 2003. ONE year later we started having issues with the a/c. Also, our home's installation has fallen completely out, our walls have huge cracks, our floor creaks and we have black mold. Now on another subject, Walter Mortgage Company. We have had so many problems with this company. First I would love if anyone could tell me if Walter Mortgage Company is the same as Jim Walter Homes. I have asked them many times and they say "no". I would get threatening phone calls from a certain individual...in which I won't say his name, but if you live anywhere near Austin, Texas you may know who he is; if I were two weeks late. I have dealt with this man so much because due to my health conditions and medical bills I would not always have enough money to pay my home on time. Recently I had to turn to a lawyer to get help so that the harassment would stop. At the beginning of December I found out that I have around twenty tumors in my *** and that I may have lymphoma. I tried explaining to Mr. Lopez who is the regional supervisor for Walter Mortgage that if they would give me the chance I would be able to get my account current by February and that I was sorry that I was behind, because I don't have health insurance and between my doctor's bills and medications. His statement to me was "he didn't care if I lived or died and thathe would not give me the chance to pay it off and that he wanted all of the money up front". I'm 32 years old and I have four children that need me around a little longer. I'm glad that Jim Walter Homes are out of business. I'm sad though because now I have no one to call to make complaints to. I'll be glad when enough people report complaints about Walter Mortgage Company and they too get shut down. It's sad to know that people are that ugly and heartless. One day these idiots will have to answer to someone and I hope it's soon!! Like they say "karma's a ***"!!! I would love to see how many customers like myself are out there and maybe we can all get together and take these *** down! E-Mail me @ garzamelissa2079@***.com.

Did you get a home inspection before you bought? Did you do any due diligence and investigate the company at all.

If this was new construction for you and the home was inspected by your local building dept then they may be liable for any defects that violate the building code.

If you purchased the home already built and you did any kind of check on JW Homes you would have found that JW Homes builds to the minimum code requirements and uses the minimum quality materials permitted. This has been common knowledge in the real estate and building community for at least the last 40 years.

Sounds to me like all you cared about was price and you didn't care about quality. Now you know why it was so cheap.Hope you learned a lesson.

Instead of belly aching about the problems with your home why don't you try to educate others on why you shouldn't make a buying decision based on the price alone.

Then you really will be helping people.

Excellent reply Inspector! I had a jim walters home built for me but only the shell, and I along with my father did all the plumbing, electrical work, finish carpentry, and just about everything else.

Refinanced to a reputable mortgage company and paid if off quickly. Now I have a nice, sturdy, well built, paid for home in the country that I have raised 2 children in, and look forward to enjoying my retirement years along with doing home owner's preventive maintenance, repairs, and general upkeep that you must do to keep a home looking nice.

Homes are not maintenance free, work must be done to them on a regular basis. Take care of them and they will take care of you on those cold winter evenings, when my wood burning stove is keeping the place warm and toasty I try to remind myself of this.

Jim Walter Homes are not home builders, but home demolishers!!!

Where to start at? We bought our home in 1984 about four or five years after it was built from a couple that worked on the boat. They were not home much to notice the problems that were soon to arise. First the workers hammered a nail into the hot water line connected to the hot water heater between our utility and bathroom. The leak was so small and didn't change the water pressure that it went unnoticed until it was too late to save things. This caused the down fall of our entire home. We have had to replace 6 floors once and 1 room and the hall twice. The lines had to be replaced along with the sheet rock and flooring. The moisture has caused the ceilings to sag. The kitchen floor is slanted. We had to replace the windows due to rotten wood. The old windows were aluminum garage windows. The roof has been replaced twice, this last time was with metal roofing, cause there was a bow in the roof over our master bedroom. The partial board siding was falling off therefore we had to replace it with vinyl siding. The seals and support beams have deteriorated. There is several other things that I can name, but I'm gonna leave it at that. If I wasn't putting all my money in the upkeep of a disaster of a home that was built, I would actually have money to live on!!!!

My air conditioning/heating unit has lasted since 1994 with only 2 Freon adds, and regular checkups along with changing filters every month. It is 2014 now so that tells you that the Armstrong unit they used was good quality.

If you failed to due due diligence on JW Homes then you have no one to blame but yourself. If you had asked any Realtor or builder they would have told you that JW Homes build to the minimum code and use the cheapest materials permitted.

A few minutes on the phone could have saved you all this grief.

As with most people you got greedy. You probably though " I can get more house with less money". And that's when they got you!

Jim Walter's are crooks!!!

We built our Home in 2007. It is already falling apart. Not enough support under the house. All the sheet rock in the house has cracks. Windows and doors will not close. Cabinets pulling away from walls. Baseboards pulling away from floor. You could surf on my living room floor from all the waves in it. We are currently seecking People in the East Texas area that have had problems with this company. We need 4 more people so that we can file a class action lawsuit. You can e-mail me at brandi_roberts2003@***.com Please pass this along if you know of other people that can help!

We are from Alabama ,, we built our home in 2008 ... Ours is falling apart as well ..

Our doors are open to outside ,,anything and everything can come in ...

Floors are actually separated from bottom of walls ,I had them come in ma y times wile they where will building and never fixed the problems .. We have .any if not more ,,we already tried to seek help and no one could ,we are stressed .

Guest

Built my JW house in 1980. We finished the inside, and hired an electrician and plumber.

Never any problems until about 10 years ago. Had large humps in floors, just random places. Pulled up carpet, had the humps cut out & replaced with better sub flooring. Since that time we've had to repeat that process twice.

Now, it's such a hill & valley mess we will have to replace sub flooring in the entire house....nightmare. The Mississippi humidity makes it much worse.

Like others, we had to replace rotting siding with vinyl and replaced all Windows that were broken. My question is...anyone else have this trouble with sub flooring?

Guest

If the defects were in violation of local building codes at the time the home was built then the local building dept can be held liable. Talk to an attorney.

Guest

We purchased this home used. We have had issues on going with the peir and chain foundation..do to my husband being military we move so much so house stays in rental mode while we pcs where they need him.

Well we finally are in area of our house and have a company out to fix it...come to find out there were no seals under it..which is against building code and the inspector in La should have noticed this. My issue is this..we purchased the house and the warrenty was out! Why should we be liable for this when the building inspector should have seen this issue and Jim Walters is the ones whom built it wrong!! This not a fair business practice and is fraud and also no wonder they went under!!

Need some answers here on if there's anything we can do at all about this matter!! Please email me with any info alleykaye2011@***.com
